Anne has developed a private practice specializing in child and family therapy as well as helping couples and individuals in transition. She works with adults and children experiencing distress, mental suffering and symptoms of depression, anxiety, abuse, substance abuse and serious emotional disturbances.

Anne has participated in intensive meditation retreats in the Theravadan Buddhism tradition since 2000. She studied Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy with Zindel Segal and leads MBCT groups in San Francisco . In 2008, Anne began the Dedicated Practioner's program at Spirit Rock Meditation Center.

Lee Lipp, Ph.D., has been a member of Thich Nhat Hanh's Order of Interbeing, practicing Zen and Vipassana since 1991. Having taught in psychology graduate programs for 16 years, her most recent work has included being Diversity/Outreach Coordinator at San Francisco Zen Center. She has also taught stress reduction mindfulness based meditation classes with Jail Psychiatric Services for San Francisco County Jail-San Bruno and San Francisco Drug Court and a variety of community based social service programs.

Trained in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression (MBCT), Dr. Lipp teaches Transforming Depression and Anxiety classes throughout the Bay Area in venues that have included Spirit Rock Meditation Center, Insight Meditation Society, Tassajara Mountain Center, San Francisco Zen Center, San Francisco Insight, Green Gulch Farm Zen Center, East Bay Meditation Center, San Francisco Zen Center's Recovery Program, Zen Hospice Project, La Casa de las Madres, Gay Men's Buddhist Sangha, Arcata Zen Center, San Mateo County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services, San Francisco Mental Health Association and the San Francisco Dept. of Mental Health.

Fran Segal is a psychologist and artist who works primarily in the East Bay. She has been a licensed clinical psychologist since 1992, and has studied and practiced mindfulness, including Zen meditation, and T'ai Ch'i Chuan, for over thirty years. Dr Segal trained with MBCT founder, Zindel Segal, and teaches Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) classes and offers individualized instruction in MBCT.

Dr. Segal's other clinical work has included extensive use of art therapy and guided imagery as means of being present in the moment with thoughts and feelings. As a founding member of The Bay Area Eco-Psychology Group, she integrated mindfulness practice into group processes in wilderness settings and has published several articles on this subject.

Ronna Kabatznick is a social psychologist who has been practicing Vipassana meditation since 1985. She is trained in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression (MBCT) and teaches MBCT as well as Mindful Eating classes throughout the Bay Area, including Insight Meditation Center and Sprit Rock Meditation Center. Dr. Kabatznick is is a consultant on a research study in the Department of Psychiatry at UCSF, investigating the efficacy of MBCT on treatment resistant depression (TRD).

For nine years, Dr. Kabatznick was the psychological consultant to Weight Watchers International and helped create their behavioral weight management program. Her best selling book, The Zen of Eating: Ancient Answers to Modern Weight Problems, is now in its 8th printing and has been published in five languages. Dr. Kabatznick is also on the Board of The Center for Mindful Eating (www.tcme.org), a web-based organization for professionals across disciplines including physicians, psychologists, nutritionist interested in mindful eating. Her Berkeley private practice focuses on helping clients apply meditation and mindfulness to challenges related to weight, depression and relationships.

Ronna Kabatznick, Ph.D., offers individual consultations (75 minutes) and private sessions (50 minutes) for clients interested in practicing mindfulness-based strategies for depression, anxiety and compulsive overeating. She will be teaching a day-long class on MBCT this fall in Berkeley.
