MBCT-Bay Area is a consortium of mindfulness meditation teachers in the San Francisco Bay Area who work with individuals and groups on issues related to depression, relapse prevention and treatment resistant depression. Some of the instructors also have other expertise in mindfulness based approaches to anxiety, eating issues, PTSD, and addiction recovery.
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression is a program that is designed to help you see more clearly the patterns of the mind, so you can practice ways of getting back in touch with the experience of being alive. Instead of pushing away painful feelings and memories, mindfulness helps give people the courage to allow life's challenges to be experienced within a framework of compassion for each moment as it arises.
Our aim is to provide current information about the various opportunities to join classes, attend day-long retreats and workshops or to find one-on-one help. MBCT classes typically include discussion times and a focus on experiential exercises. Participants are asked to engage in home practice assignments as a way to develop skillfulness with what was presented in the workshop that was attended.
The calendar of MBCT events throughout the Bay will be continually updated. New classes will be announced on a regular basis. Then, all you need to do is click on the link to the class you're interesting in attending and you can learn about the course description, time, date, fees, how to register and a short bio of the instructor.
